Residents are advised that the current power outage affecting Duyker Eiland and Cape St Martin is the result of cable theft.
The stolen cables have been confirmed at the point where the gravel road begins at Britannia Bay. This is a known hotspot and unfortunately forms part of a broader cable theft syndicate operating in the Western Cape.
What Happened?
Electrical infrastructure was deliberately targeted and damaged in order to remove copper cables. When this occurs:

Repairs require extensive technical work

Replacement materials must be sourced and transported
This is not a simple “switch back on” situation.
